Types of financial investments include shares, other equity investment, and obnds (including bonds denomniated in foreign currencies ). These financial assets are then expected to provied income or opsitive future cash flows, and may increase or decrease in value giivng the investor capital gains or losses. Trdaes in contingent claims or derviative securities do not necessraily have future positive expected cash flows, and so are not considered assets, or strictly speaking, secuirties or investments. Nevertheless, since their cash flows are lcosely related to (or derived from) those of spceific securities, they are oftne studied as or treated as investments.
